What a real note actually looks like

The subtitle on this screen states its scope and its privacy model in one sentence: “What Students have saved while learning.   • Confirm your own privacy stance matches the platform’s “read-only, student-owned” framing before you communicate anything to students about this feature, if students understand their notes are genuinely private study material, not something an instructor casually reads, they’re more likely to use the feature honestly and extensively, the way the real 7,640-note volume here suggests students already are.
  • Treat high note-taking volume on a specific lesson as a positive signal, not a red flag. A lesson generating unusually detailed notes across many students isn’t necessarily confusing them, per the real “Great real-world example here” note above, it might simply be unusually rich, memorable content students want to hold onto, which is exactly the kind of lesson worth studying and replicating elsewhere in your own curriculum.

A rising ratio of active-note-takers to total students, over successive months, suggests the feature is becoming a more embedded part of how new students approach your courses, word-of-mouth or onboarding messaging pointing students toward it, or simply enough of a critical mass of visible bookmarked/annotated lessons that new students pick up the habit from seeing it modeled. A flat or declining ratio, even as total enrollment grows, suggests newer students aren’t discovering the feature the way earlier ones did, worth investigating whether it’s surfaced clearly enough in the actual lesson-player interface, since a feature students don’t know exists can’t be adopted no matter how well-built it is underneath.

The per-user note volume (roughly fifty here) is a second, complementary number worth tracking, a rising average suggests students who do adopt the feature are getting more value from it over time, using it more thoroughly per course rather than trying it once and abandoning it. Both numbers together, adoption rate and depth of use, give a fuller picture than either alone of whether this feature is genuinely serving your specific student body or just technically present and lightly touched.
