Care plans Built for community + eCommerce sites that cannot afford to go down

A care plan is non-negotiable for any serious WordPress site.

Community platforms break when plugins go stale. eCommerce stores bleed money during downtime. Outdated plugins account for 90+ percent of WordPress hacks. The site you spent six months building is one un-patched vulnerability away from a recovery project. Our care plans exist so that does not happen to you - run by the engineers who ship 100+ WordPress products and operate WPVanguard, the security SaaS we run ourselves.

13+ years engineering products in production · 52,000+ logged hours · 30-day money-back on every plan

Why this is non-negotiable

Six things that happen to community and eCommerce sites without ongoing care.

The case for a care plan is not abstract risk-management. It is six specific failure modes we have watched play out on sites that did not have one. Each tier below is sized to the size of the failure mode it prevents.

01

Community sites stop working when plugins go stale

BuddyPress, BuddyBoss, PeepSo, and the moderation stack on top of them ship updates monthly. Skip three updates in a row and the activity stream breaks in a way no plugin author tests for. We have rescued sites where unmaintained plugin updates compounded for six months before the admin noticed. The recovery cost was an order of magnitude more than three years of care plan.

Compounding plugin debt is the #1 community-site killer we see.

02

WooCommerce stores lose revenue every minute of downtime

Industry data: a mid-sized WooCommerce store loses $1,200-$4,000 per hour of checkout downtime, plus 2-5% of repeat customers permanently after a single bad incident. The cause is rarely the host; it is almost always a stale plugin combination, an unpatched core, or a security incident that could have been caught by continuous monitoring.

Downtime is a revenue problem, not just a tech problem.

03

Outdated plugins are the #1 attack vector on WordPress

Patchstack and Sucuri data through 2025 keep saying the same thing: vulnerable plugins account for over 90 percent of WordPress compromises. Sites running unmaintained plugins are statistically certain to be compromised on a long enough timeline. Continuous scanning + staging-tested updates close the window before the patch is public knowledge.

90%+ of WP hacks start with an outdated plugin.

04

Search rankings collapse silently when the site is slow

Core Web Vitals have been a ranking signal since 2021. A community or store site that gets gradually slower as plugins accumulate, database tables bloat, and image libraries grow loses ranking before anyone notices the loss. Recovery takes months. Continuous optimization keeps the site within the green band.

Slow site = SEO erosion before traffic data shows it.

05

Customer trust dies on the first incident

A community member who hits a broken page, an eCommerce buyer who hits a failed payment, a member whose forgotten-password email never arrives - each is a story they tell. Recovery takes a year of clean operation. Avoiding the incident in the first place is cheaper than fixing the reputation afterwards.

One incident = a year of reputation recovery.

06

In-house "we will handle it later" is the most expensive plan

Founders, marketing leads, and community managers are not WordPress engineers. The cost of context-switching to debug a plugin conflict, the cost of guessing at a security patch, the cost of restoring a broken backup at 11 PM - these compound. A care plan is cheaper than the team-time it replaces.

Care plans free up internal headcount.

52,000+

hours of WordPress engineering since 2013

Same engineers that ship BuddyX Pro, Reign theme, the BuddyPress Community Bundle, and 100+ other plugins. We do not outsource your site to a different team.

Engineering capability included on every plan

Eight inclusions that turn maintenance from a checkbox into a real engineering practice.

The capability below is delivered by senior engineers, not a junior team. Malware removal, staging-tested updates, an emergency response SLA, weekly written status - these are not upsells, not add-ons, not stripped out at the entry tier. This is the baseline.

01

24/7 uptime monitoring

Independent uptime probes from three geographic regions. Downtime triggers an alert to the on-call engineer within sixty seconds. Public status URL on request.

60-second alert SLA.

02

Cloud backups, four times daily

Encrypted backups every six hours to an off-site bucket, retained for thirty days. One-click restore to any point in the retention window. Backup integrity is verified weekly with a test-restore on a sandbox.

Every 6 hours, 30-day retention.

03

Malware scan and removal, included

Patchstack + Sucuri scanning runs continuously. If a compromise is detected we clean the site at no extra charge - this is part of every tier, not an upsell. The same security team supports WPVanguard, the security SaaS we operate ourselves.

Cleanup included on every tier.

04

Staging-tested updates

Plugin, theme, and WordPress core updates run on a staging clone first. If anything regresses, the update is held and a developer reviews. Updates only ship to production after a passing visual + functional check.

Updates run on staging first.

05

Weekly transparency report

A written status email lands in your inbox every Friday: what we updated, what we caught, what we monitored, what is next. No surveillance dashboards, no PDF noise.

Friday written status email.

06

30-day money-back guarantee

Cancel within the first 30 days for a full refund. Care Plan renewals after that window are non-refundable per the policy at /refund-policy/, in line with the rest of our subscription products.

30 days, no questions asked.

07

Emergency support SLA

Production-down tickets get a senior engineer within one business hour during coverage and within four hours overnight. Coverage hours mirror the support policy: 10am-10pm IST Monday to Friday.

One hour during coverage.

08

BuddyPress and community specialists

The same engineers who maintain BuddyX Pro, the BuddyPress Community Bundle (26 plugins), and Reign theme handle your community site. We are the only care plan on the market positioned around this stack.

Uncontested specialty.

How agile development works

Four steps, no surprises.

Same workflow as our care plan inclusion hours. The customer is on Basecamp from day one with a written brief, a real engineer, and a Friday status email.

01

Share your task list

Send us what you need - bug fixes, feature work, an upgrade, a redesign sprint. We review in 24 hours and send a detailed estimate tailored to your requirements. No automated triage, a senior engineer reads every brief.

Estimate within 24 hours.

02

Approve and purchase time

Once you approve, buy flexible hour blocks to get started. No long-term subscriptions, no auto-renewal trap. Care plan customers draw down their included hours first; overflow buys additional blocks at a transparent rate.

No subscription lock-in.

03

Track on Basecamp

Your own Basecamp project board with the engineer assigned, the brief, the timeline, and the deliverables. Comment, attach files, ask questions in-thread. No "send email and wait" loop, no Trello clone we built last week.

Basecamp PM, real-time.

04

Weekly written status

Friday email with the timesheet for the week: what shipped, what is in progress, what is blocked. Optional 30-minute check-in call any week you want it. No surveillance dashboards, no time-tracking screenshots.

Friday status email, every week.

Customer story

In the words of a customer running one of our care plans.

Two minutes of context on what the care plan looks like in practice, from the person who pays the invoice. No script, no leading questions, no production polish.

Common questions

Frequently asked

  1. Why is malware removal included instead of an upsell?

Most premium WordPress care plans in 2026 include malware removal as a standard inclusion (WP Buffs, SiteCare, Fixed.net). Charging extra for cleanup when a site is compromised reads as opportunistic. Our security team also runs WPVanguard - the security SaaS we operate ourselves - so the cleanup capacity is already in-house.

  2. What counts as "unlimited content edits"?

Adding a blog post, swapping an image, updating a price, changing a phone number, editing a footer link, fixing typos, posting a new product, updating a contact form. Tasks that take a senior engineer less than 30 minutes count as content edits. Bigger work - new pages, custom plugin changes, theme rebuilds - draws from your Care Pro dev-hours bank or buys an hour block.

  3. How do the rolling dev hours work in Care Pro?

You get 4 hours per month included. Unused hours roll to the next month, capped at 8 hours total accumulated. So if you do not use any in May, June starts with 8 (4 carried + 4 new). The cap prevents indefinite stockpiling. Hours used cover real engineer time (not project management or status updates).

  4. Do you specialize in BuddyPress / BuddyBoss / community sites?

Yes. We ship the BuddyPress Community Bundle (26 plugins), BuddyX (7,000+ active sites Free + Pro), Reign theme, Jetonomy (community moderation), and another two dozen community-focused products. The same engineers maintaining those products run your community site. No other care plan on the market is positioned around this stack.

  5. What is the emergency response SLA?

Production-down tickets (site offline, checkout broken, login broken on a community) get a senior engineer within one business hour during coverage (10am-10pm IST Mon-Fri) and within four hours overnight. Tickets opened on weekends are best-effort, typically within 24 hours. The SLA appears on the Ultimate and Care Pro tiers; Essentials and Professional get standard-priority queue handling.

  6. Can I downgrade or cancel anytime?

Yes. Care plans renew monthly and can be cancelled from your /profile/ dashboard before the next renewal date. The first 30 days are fully refundable; renewals are non-refundable per /refund-policy/. Downgrading mid-cycle prorates the difference toward your next month.

  7. Do you offer multi-site discounts?

Yes, starting at 5 sites. Ten percent off for 5-9 sites, twenty percent off for 10-24, custom pricing for 25+. White-label customers (agency reseller tier) get bulk pricing from site one. Mention the multi-site count when you book a call and we will quote accordingly.

  8. What is the difference between a care plan and a custom development plan?

Care plans are recurring monthly maintenance (uptime, security, backups, small content edits, included dev hours). Custom development plans (Startup Spark, Growth Catalyst, Enterprise Pro) are project-based with larger monthly hour commitments (10 / 30 / 60 hours) for active development work like building features, refactors, redesigns, integrations. Many customers run both: a Care Pro plan for the live site plus a Growth Catalyst block for a 3-month build.

  9. Can you handle our WooCommerce store?

Yes. Professional, Ultimate, and Care Pro all include WooCommerce maintenance support. Ultimate adds eCommerce platform optimization (cart performance, checkout debugging, payment gateway issues). Care Pro adds dev hours that can be applied to WooCommerce feature work. For a managed-Woo retainer beyond maintenance, see /services/woocommerce-development/.

  10. Do I need to host with you?

No. Care plans are hosting-agnostic. We work with your existing host (SiteGround, Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways, Rocket.net, etc.) and pull credentials only as needed for specific tickets. We do not bundle hosting into the price like some competitors - the savings stays with you and the host you have already vetted.

Not sure which plan fits?

Book a 30-minute call with a senior engineer.

No sales script, no NDA needed for the first call. We will look at your site live, tell you which tier actually fits, and quote multi-site discounts if relevant. Discovery is free.
