Accessible, secure WordPress for public sector.

WCAG 2.1 AA. Section 508 conformance. FedRAMP-aware hosting partners. Plain-language content workflows. Multilingual delivery. We ship the unsexy compliance that public agencies legally need.

WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, GDPR documented

Why this industry

Government has constraints commercial agencies skip.

Section 508 conformance is enforced by law in the United States. The European Accessibility Directive is enforced for public-sector bodies in the EU. Multilingual delivery is required for residents who do not speak the dominant language. Plain-language is a federal mandate. Most commercial agencies skip every one of these because they are unglamorous and time-consuming. We lead with them.

We have shipped public-sector WordPress since 2018 and we document architecture for procurement reviewers before the contract is signed, not after. The work is slower, the requirements are stricter, and the citizens who land on the site deserve the engineering most commercial sites would never spend the hours on.

What we work with

Who we ship for in government.

01

Federal, state, and local agencies

Department websites, public-facing service portals, citizen engagement platforms. Sites that have to pass Section 508 review and procurement scrutiny before launch.

A government site that passes Section 508 audit and procurement review.

02

Civic tech and government contractors

You build public-sector products and you need a content layer or a portal that interfaces with your platform. WordPress as the citizen-facing surface to your civic tech back-end.

A citizen-facing portal that 50,000 weekly users navigate without help desk tickets.

03

Public health and safety agencies

Multilingual content, emergency alert systems, accessible PDF replacements, plain-language rewrites. Sites that have to serve every resident regardless of literacy, language, or disability.

A public health site that meets the residents where they are.

04

International public sector

NHS-adjacent, EU member-state agencies, international NGOs with public-facing services. GDPR, accessibility directives, multilingual delivery, plain-language compliance.

A public-sector site that passes the accessibility directive and the GDPR audit.

What we build

The public-sector engineering that passes audit.

01

WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance

Government sites have legal accessibility requirements. We design and build to WCAG 2.1 AA from the start, run automated audits with axe and Pa11y, and run manual screen reader testing across NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.

Accessibility audits that pass without a remediation contract afterward.

02

FedRAMP-aware hosting partners

WP Engine GovCloud, Pantheon, or Cloudflare for Government. We architect for the FedRAMP authorization the agency requires and document the architecture for the procurement reviewer.

Hosting documentation that the agency CIO can sign off on.

03

Multilingual public service delivery

Polylang, WPML, or custom multilingual builds. Translation workflow integrations, language-specific URLs, language-specific search, accessible language switchers.

Multilingual sites that serve eight or more languages without per-language rebuilds.

04

Plain-language content systems

Reading-grade analysis on every published article, plain-language alternative versions, glossary of agency-specific terms. The CMS-level work that makes plain-language a workflow, not an afterthought.

Average reading grade dropped from 14 to 8, public comprehension up.

05

Service portal and form workflows

Permit applications, license renewals, citizen complaint forms, public records requests. Forms that save progress, support file upload, and integrate with the back-office systems agencies actually run.

Service portals that residents complete in one sitting, not three call-backs.

06

Security hardening and incident response

Hardened wp-config, 2FA enforcement, file integrity monitoring, audit logging, automated dependency updates, documented incident response runbook. Annual penetration testing through your vendor of choice.

A security posture that the agency CISO can defend to oversight.

of our public-sector launches passed accessibility audit on first review

Common questions

Frequently asked

  1. Are you on a federal contract vehicle?

Not directly. We work as a subcontractor to prime contractors who hold GSA, OASIS, or agency-specific vehicles. We can also work directly with state and local agencies that procure through standard RFPs. We do not chase set-aside contracts.

  2. How do you handle Section 508 compliance?

WCAG 2.1 AA is our default and Section 508 maps closely. We design and build to the standard from the start, run automated audits, and run manual screen reader testing. We document the conformance report and any known gaps where vendors or third-party content limit full compliance.

  3. What about FedRAMP?

WordPress itself is not FedRAMP authorized. We deploy on hosting partners that hold the authorization the agency requires. WP Engine GovCloud, Pantheon, or Cloudflare for Government depending on the impact level. We document the architecture for the procurement reviewer.

  4. How do you handle plain-language requirements?

Reading-grade analysis runs on every article in the editorial workflow. Editors see the grade and can rewrite to a target. Glossary terms get tooltips. We can also generate a plain-language version of complex policy content as a separate published version.

  5. Can you handle a multilingual public-sector site?

Yes. We have shipped multilingual sites serving eight or more languages. Translation workflow integrations with Smartling, Lokalise, or in-house translators. Language-specific URLs, language-specific search, accessible language switchers.

  6. What does a government engagement cost?

Department-level redesigns are scoped per project. Service portals with form workflows are scoped after discovery. Multilingual public-service platforms are scoped after discovery. Discovery call is free and we sign NDAs before architecture detail is shared.
