The people behind the work.
A senior product engineering team. Most engineers have 10 plus years of experience. Most have been at Wbcom for five plus years. EST, PST, IST coverage. Detailed bios are in progress, named-engineer introductions happen in discovery.
Detailed bios coming soon, named introductions during discovery
We are a small senior team. Most of our engineers have 10 plus years of
professional experience and have been at Wbcom for five plus years. We
hire slowly, mostly through referral and open source contribution. New
engineers ramp up over months, not weeks.
Detailed individual bios are coming. For now, named introductions to the
engineers who would lead your project happen during discovery, before
contract.
13 yr
average engineering experience across the team
Most engineers have 10 plus years of professional WordPress, Laravel, or Astro experience. Most have been at Wbcom for five plus years. Low turnover means context compounds.
01
Senior engineers only
Every engineer on the team has shipped production WordPress, Laravel, or Astro for paying customers. No junior pass-through. No bootcamp ramp-up. Your project is staffed by engineers who have done it before.
→ No senior tax for senior delivery.
02
GitHub-active
Every team member is active on GitHub, with contributions to public WordPress and BuddyPress projects. The same engineers who ship your work also ship to open source. Public commits, public PRs, public reviews.
→ You can audit our engineering culture before contract.
03
EST, PST, IST coverage
Engineers across three primary timezones. Customer-facing leads in EST and PST. Engineering work runs across IST primary, EST secondary. Coverage windows documented before engagement.
→ Async-first work plus sync windows when they earn it.
04
13 years average experience
Average engineer tenure on the team is 13 years of professional experience. Most are former agency leads, ex-product engineers, or independent consultants who joined Wbcom because the work is interesting.
→ Decisions get made by people who have made them before.
05
Long tenure on the team
Most senior engineers have been at Wbcom for five plus years. Low turnover means context compounds. The engineer who shipped your project in year one is the engineer who maintains it in year three.
→ Context stays with the engineer who built it.
06
Cross-stack capability
Engineers move between WordPress, Laravel, Astro, and Node depending on the project. The same person who ships a WP plugin can ship a Laravel API or an Astro frontend. Stack-specific skills are wide, not narrow.
→ Project staffing is by interest, not by isolated skill silos.
Where the team is
Engineers in India (IST) are the majority of the team. Customer-facing
leads in EST and PST. We have shipped projects with customer teams in
40 plus countries using async-first communication and overlap windows
scheduled around customer timezones.
What we ship in open source
Plugins for WordPress.org with combined 100,000 plus active installs.
Open source repos at github.com/wbcomdesigns. Contributions to BuddyPress
core, BuddyBoss platform, and several WordPress ecosystem projects. The
same engineers who ship for customers also ship to open source.
How we hire
Slowly, mostly through referral and through open source contribution.
New engineers go through a multi-month onboarding cycle on internal
products before they touch customer work. The hiring bar is "would I
trust this person to lead my own customer project?"
What is coming
Individual engineer bios with project history, public commits, technical
writing, and the projects they have led. Page is in progress and will
ship in the next quarter. Until then, named introductions happen in
discovery on request.
-
Why no individual bios on this page?
Detailed bios are in progress. We are working on individual pages for each senior engineer with project history, public commits, and writing. For now, named-engineer introductions happen during discovery for clients who want to know who would do their work.
-
Will we work with the same engineer throughout the project?
Yes. One named engineering lead per project, supported by additional engineers as the work needs them. The lead stays on the project from kickoff to handover and into the warranty window.
-
Can we interview the engineer before contract?
Yes. We arrange a 30-minute introduction call between you and the proposed engineering lead before contract signs. You verify the fit, we verify the project context.
-
Do you use contractors?
For peak capacity we have a small bench of trusted contractors with multi-year history at Wbcom. Contractors are named in the engagement. Most projects are staffed entirely by full-time team members.
-
How do you hire?
Slowly. We hire senior engineers through referral, open source contribution, and long onboarding cycles. We have not posted a public job listing in three years. The team grows when the right person is available, not when the headcount budget says so.
Want to meet the engineer who would lead your project?

Named-engineer introductions happen during discovery. Discovery call is free, named engineer matched to your project domain.
