In this tutorial you will write a blog post as a member and publish it, all from the front of the site. You need the free WB Member Blog plugin, installed and active, and a role that may write. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the writing page. Add a title and your words. Add a category, tags and an image. Publish it. Then see your post live.

Step one. Open the writing page. Signed in as a member, open My Blog Dashboard, your blog home. Create Post is at the top. Click it. The post form opens, with the writing on the left and Post settings on the right.

Step two. Add a title and your words. Type a title in the Title box. Then click in the box below and write. The buttons above it add a heading, an image, a list, a quote, code, a divider or a video. The word count under it updates as you write.

Step three. Add a category, tags and an image. They are in the first fold of Post settings. Choose one or more categories from the list. Type tags, separated by commas. Readers use them to find posts on the same topic. For the featured image, drag a picture onto this box, or click it to choose one. The hint shows the file types and the size.

Step four. Publish it. The buttons are at the foot of the form. Click the main button to send your post. It reads Publish when your site lets members publish straight away. If the site owner checks posts first, it reads Submit for Review. Not ready yet? Save Draft keeps it for later, and Preview shows it as readers will see it.

Step five. See your post live. Once it is published, your post has its own page on the site, with your name under the title. It is also listed on the Articles tab of your profile, with an Edit button to change it later.

That is all five. The writing page, your title and words, a category, tags and an image, the post sent, and your post live. You have written your first post with WB Member Blog. Next in this series: Save a draft and finish it later.
