How to Choose the Editor and Turn On Autosave in WB Member Blog

How to choose the editor your members write in, and turn on autosave, in WB Member Blog. On WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Editor, the Active editor list offers Editor.js (Block-style, recommended), Medium Editor (Inline) and Classic Editor (TinyMCE). Autosave drafts saves a draft about once a minute while a member writes; on a live post the changes go live only when the member presses Update. Click Save Settings, then open the writing page as a member to see the editor.

In this tutorial you will choose the editor your members write in, and turn on autosave so their work is kept as they write. You need the free WB Member Blog plugin, installed and active. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the Editor tab. Choose the editor. Turn on autosave. Save your choice. Then see it as a member.

Step one. Open the Editor tab. In your WordPress admin, open WB Plugins, then Member Blog, and click Editor under Settings. The Editor Type card sets the editor members use when they write a post on your site.

Step two. Choose the editor. Open the Active editor list. There are three. Editor.js, Medium Editor and Classic Editor. Editor.js is marked Recommended. Members add paragraphs, headings, lists, images, quotes and code as blocks. Medium Editor is clean and distraction free, with a toolbar that appears when you select text. Classic Editor is the familiar WordPress editor.

Step three. Turn on autosave. Tick Automatically save a draft while members are writing. It saves about once a minute. A new post is kept on the member's Drafts tab. On a live post, the changes go live only when they press Update.

Step four. Save your choice. Click Save Settings. Every member gets the new editor the next time they open the writing page. Until you save, members keep the editor they have now.

Step five. See it as a member. Sign in as a member and open the writing page. With Editor.js, the content box has a row of block buttons. Heading, Image, List, Quote, Code, Divider and Video. Each one adds a block to the post.

That is all five. The Editor tab, the editor chosen, autosave on, the choice saved, and the editor seen as a member. Your members now write in the editor you chose, and their drafts are kept. Next in this series: Turn on the reader features.
