How to Set a Minimum and Maximum Word Count in WB Member Blog

How to set the fewest and the most words a member post may have, with WB Member Blog Pro, step by step. Open WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Restrictions (the Post Restrictions module is on by default) and find Word Count Limits under Global Settings. Both numbers start at zero, which means no limit. Type the fewest words in Min and the most in Max, leaving either at zero to skip it, and click Save Settings; a minimum higher than the maximum is refused. A post outside the range cannot be published or sent for review, and the member is told how many words it has. Drafts and edits to posts already live are not checked. On the writing page, the count under the editor shows the number of words as the member types.

In this tutorial you will set the fewest and the most words a member post may have. You need WB Member Blog Pro, with its Post Restrictions module on, as it is on a new site. It takes about two minutes. There are four steps. Find Word Count Limits. Set the numbers. Know what is checked. Then watch the count while writing.

Step one. Find Word Count Limits. Go to WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Restrictions. It is under Global Settings. Both numbers are zero, which means there is no limit. That is how a new site starts.

Step two. Set the numbers. Type the fewest words a post needs in Min, for example three hundred. Type the most it may have in Max, for example fifteen hundred. Leave either one at zero to skip it. Then click Save Settings. A minimum higher than the maximum is refused.

Step three. Know what is checked. A post outside the range cannot be published or sent for review. The member is told how many words it has. Drafts are never checked, so nothing a member writes is lost. Edits to posts already live are not checked either.

Step four. Watch the count while writing. On the writing page, the count under the editor shows how many words the post has. It goes up as the member types, so they can see when the post is long enough.

That is all four. Word Count Limits, the numbers, what is checked, and the count while writing. Every member post now has the right length. Next in this series: Give one member their own limit.
