How to Limit How Many Posts a Member Can Publish in WB Member Blog
How to limit how many posts members can publish, role by role, with WB Member Blog Pro, step by step. Open WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Restrictions (the Post Restrictions module is on by default). When a member reaches a limit, a banner above the post form says which limit and when it resets; they can still write and save drafts, and only publishing a new post waits. Under Role-Based Limits each role has a row; a new site starts with Subscriber at 100 posts an hour, a day and a week, and 1000 a month and a year. The tightest limit always wins, and administrators are never limited. Click Add Role, choose a role and type a number for each period; leave a period empty or enter 0 for no limit, then click Add Role Limit. Limit Warning, on at 80 percent, warns members before they reach a limit. Click Save Settings.

In this tutorial you will limit how many posts members can publish, role by role. You need WB Member Blog Pro, with its Post Restrictions module on, as it is on a new site. It takes about two minutes. There are four steps. Open Restrictions. Read a role's limits. Add a limit for a role. Then warn members near a limit.
Step one. Open Restrictions. Go to WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Restrictions. When a member reaches a limit, a banner above the post form says which one and when it resets. They can still write and save drafts. Only publishing a new post waits.
Step two. Read a role's limits. Under Role-Based Limits, each role has a row. A new site starts with this one for Subscriber. It allows one hundred posts an hour, a day and a week, and one thousand a month and a year. The tightest limit always wins. Administrators are never limited.
Step three. Add a limit for a role. Click Add Role. Choose the role, then type a number for each period you want to limit. Leave a period empty, or enter zero, for no limit. Click Add Role Limit to add the row, or Cancel to close it, as here.
Step four. Warn members near a limit. Under Global Settings, Limit Warning is on, at eighty percent. Members see a warning once they have used that share of a limit, before they reach it. Then click Save Settings.
That is all four. Restrictions, a role's limits, adding a limit for a role, and warning members near a limit. Posting on your site now stays fair. Next in this series: Set a minimum and maximum word count.
