How to Invite a Co-Author to a Post in WB Member Blog

How a writer invites another member to write a post with them, with WB Member Blog Pro, step by step. The Co-Authors module starts off on a new site: turn it on under WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Manage Modules, then open Co-Authors. A post can have up to five co-authors and an invitation lasts seven days by default. Co-authors edit the post and share the byline; they cannot delete it or invite others. The writer opens a saved post or draft (a new post must be saved as a draft first), opens the Collaboration fold in Post settings, types a member's name in the search box and clicks them in the list; that member sees the invitation under Settings, Co-Authors on their own blog dashboard. The invited member opens My Blog Dashboard, then Settings, then Co-Authors, and clicks Accept or Decline. Once they accept, their name joins the byline, and every reader sees both writers.

In this tutorial a writer invites another member to write a post with them. You need WB Member Blog Pro, with its Co-Authors module on. It starts off on a new site. It takes about three minutes. There are four steps. Open Co-Authors. Invite a co-author. Accept the invitation. Then see the shared byline.

Step one. Open Co-Authors. Go to WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Co-Authors. Turn the module on under Manage Modules first. A post can have up to five co-authors. An invitation lasts seven days, then it expires. How it works sums it up. Co-authors edit the post and share the byline. They cannot delete it or invite others.

Step two. Invite a co-author. The writer opens a saved post, then the Collaboration fold in Post settings. Sara is already a co-author on this post, and an invitation to Fatima is pending. Type a member's name in the search box, then click them in the list. They see the invitation on their own dashboard.

Step three. Accept the invitation. The invited member, Fatima, opens My Blog Dashboard, then Settings, then Co-Authors. The invitation names the post, who sent it, and when it expires. They click Accept to join, or Decline.

Step four. See the shared byline. Once a member accepts, their name joins the byline. Sara accepted earlier, so this post reads Yuki Tanaka and Sara Lindqvist. Every reader sees both writers on the post.

That is all four. Co-Authors, an invitation, accepting it, and the shared byline. Two members can now write one post together. Next in this series: Let editors review posts on the front end.
