In this tutorial you will add your own fields to the writing form, and show the answers on each post. You need WB Member Blog Pro, with its Custom Fields module on, as it is on a new site. It takes about two minutes. There are four steps. Open Custom Fields. Add a field. See it on the writing form. Then see it on the post.
Step one. Open Custom Fields. Go to WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Custom Fields. This site has two fields: Key takeaway, a text box, and Reading level, a dropdown. Drag a field to change its place on the form.
Step two. Add a field. Click Add Field, and pick a field type, such as Text, Dropdown or Checkboxes. Type a label. The field ID is made from it. A new field starts as required, so switch that off if it is optional. Choose whether it shows on the post. Then click Save Field. Cancel closes the panel, as here.
Step three. See it on the writing form. A member opens the writing page and clicks the Details fold in Post settings. Each field is here for them to fill in, Key takeaway and Reading level.
Step four. See it on the post. Fields set to show on the post appear with the article, under their labels. This writer's key takeaway, and the reading level, for every reader to see.
That is all four. Custom Fields, a new field, the writing form, and the post. Every post can now carry the details you ask for. Next in this series: Read your post views and traffic.
