How to Set Image Sizes and Types Members Can Upload in WB Member Blog
How to set the largest featured image and the image types members can upload with WB Member Blog, step by step. Open WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Content and scroll to Image Uploads. Maximum upload size is in megabytes, 20 by default, and can never go above your server's own maximum, shown under the field. Allowed image types lists every image type your site accepts; a new site ticks JPG, PNG, GIF and WEBP, and you untick a type to stop members uploading it. Click Save Settings. Under Post Behaviour, Delete featured images with posts removes a member post's image from the media library when the post is deleted for good, but not when it is moved to the trash or when another post uses the image. On the writing page, the Featured image hint shows the types allowed and the largest size.

In this tutorial you will set how large a featured image can be, and which image types members may upload. You need the free WB Member Blog plugin, installed and active. It takes about two minutes. There are five steps. Find Image Uploads. Set the largest upload. Choose the image types. Clean up deleted posts. Then see it on the writing page.
Step one. Find Image Uploads. Go to WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Content, and scroll to the Image Uploads card. It sets the size and the formats allowed for the featured image on each post.
Step two. Set the largest upload. Maximum upload size is in megabytes. Twenty is the default. The note under it shows your server's own maximum. That is the upper limit, so a higher number here cannot raise it.
Step three. Choose the image types. The list shows every image type your site accepts. A new site ticks JPG, PNG, GIF and WEBP. Untick a type to stop members uploading it, for example to keep disk use down. Then click Save Settings at the foot of the tab.
Step four. Clean up deleted posts. Under Post Behaviour, Delete featured images with posts is on for a new site. When a member post is deleted for good, its image leaves the media library too. Moving a post to the trash keeps it, and so does an image another post uses.
Step five. See it on the writing page. A member opens the writing page, and finds Featured image in the first fold. The hint reads your settings: the types allowed, and up to twenty megabytes. A larger file or another type is turned away.
That is all five. Image Uploads, the largest upload, the image types, cleaning up deleted posts, and the writing page. Member images now fit your site. Next in this series: Put member posts on any page, and add content around every post.
