How to hold member posts for review before they go live with WB Member Blog, step by step. On WB Plugins, then Member Blog, then Access, the Post Publication Rules card has one switch, Publish immediately. New sites start with it on, so members publish their own posts. Untick it and click Save Settings, and every member post waits in Posts, then Member submissions until an administrator approves it. Administrators still publish straight away. Members see Submit for Review as their main button, and their submitted posts wait on the Pending tab of My Blog Dashboard. The number on the Posts menu shows how many posts are waiting.

In this tutorial you will hold every member post for review, so nothing goes live until you approve it. You need the free WB Member Blog plugin, installed and active. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the Access tab. Turn off Publish immediately. Save your choice. See it as a member. Then find the posts waiting for you.
Step one. Open the Access tab. In your WordPress admin, open WB Plugins, then Member Blog, and click Access under Settings. Scroll down to the card called Post Publication Rules. It decides whether member posts go live at once, or wait for you.
Step two. Turn off Publish immediately. New sites start with this box ticked, so members publish their own posts. Click it to untick it. Now every member post waits in Posts, Member submissions, until an administrator approves it. Administrators still publish their own posts straight away.
Step three. Save your choice. Click Save Settings at the foot of the tab. To let members publish on their own again, tick the box and save.
Step four. See it as a member. Now sign in as a member and open the writing page. The main button at the foot of the form now reads Submit for Review, so the member knows the post will be checked first. A submitted post waits on the Pending tab of their blog dashboard until it is approved.
Step five. Find the posts waiting for you. Back in the admin, the number on the Posts menu counts them. They wait under Posts, Member submissions. Posts waiting for review sit at the top, each with Approve and Send back. The next tutorial shows both.
That is all five. The Access tab, Publish immediately turned off, the choice saved, the member side, and the posts waiting for you. You now check every member post before it goes live. Next in this series: Approve a post or send it back from Member submissions.
