In this tutorial you will edit a roadmap item from the roadmap page itself, without going into the WordPress admin. You need the free Product Roadmap plugin and to be signed in as someone who can edit. It takes about three minutes. Three steps. Turn on Manage Mode. Open Edit Feature. Then go back to View Mode. You spot a typo on your roadmap, or an item that should move to another stage. Opening the admin for each small change is slow. With Manage Mode you fix it on the page itself, in a few clicks, and customers see the change at once.

Step one. Turn on Manage Mode. Signed in as the owner, the roadmap page has a Manage Mode button beside Suggest Feature. Click it. The button now reads View Mode, and every item gets an Edit button. Each item also has a Delete button, so take care with it. Only people who can edit see any of these buttons.

Step two. Open Edit Feature. Turn on Manage Mode, then click Edit on an item. The Edit Feature box opens with the Title and the Description. Click into a field to change the words. Status moves the item to another stage. Categories, Priority and Progress file it and show how far along it is. Target Date and External Link finish the item. Click Save to keep a change. Click Cancel to leave it as it was.

Step three. Go back to View Mode. Turn Manage Mode on, and the button reads View Mode. Click it, and the Edit and Delete buttons are gone. This is the page your customers see.

That is all three. Manage Mode turned on, Edit Feature opened, and View Mode restored. You can now fix your roadmap right where customers see it. Next in this series: Collect guest suggestions.
