In this tutorial you will get a points and badges game running in WB Gamification, and check that members really earn points. You need the free WB Gamification plugin, installed and active. It takes about five minutes. There are six steps. Install and activate WB Gamification. Run the setup wizard. Find your way round the Dashboard. Set points per action. Check the points arrive. Then see it as a member. Members sign up, look around, and drift away. Nothing tells them they are getting somewhere. A points and badges game gives them a reason to come back: points, a level, a streak. This is what a member sees once it runs.

Step one. Install and activate WB Gamification. Open Plugins, click Add New Plugin and upload the plugin file. Activate turns it on. This one is active, so the link reads Deactivate. Then open Gamification, and the setup wizard is next.

Step two. Run the setup wizard. It offers five templates: Blog or Publisher, Community Engagement, Online Course, Coaching Platform and Nonprofit. What your members get lists the points, badges, levels and leaderboard each template sets up. A template that needs another plugin says so. Click Use this template.

Step three. Find your way round the Dashboard. It shows Top members and Recent kudos for the last thirty days. The left list groups every setting: Points, Levels, Challenges, Badges, Kudos and more. Each one opens in this same screen.

Step four. Set points per action. Click Points. Each row is something a member can do, with an Amount of points. Switch a row off with ON. Repeat, Cooldown, Daily Cap and Weekly Cap limit how often it pays. Change an amount, then click Save Changes.

Step five. Check the points arrive. Members lists everyone with their Points, Level and Badges. Search by name or email to find one member and see where they stand.

Step six. See it as a member. This is Hana. Her points, level, badges and streak are all here. The progress bar shows how far she is from the next level, so there is always a next step.

That is all six. The plugin installed and active, the wizard run, the Dashboard found, points set per action, the points checked, and the game seen as a member. Your game is running. Next in this series: Show members their progress.
