Do I need a BuddyX theme license to use Wbcom Essential?
No. Wbcom Essential works with any WordPress theme. It's designed to feel native in BuddyX, Reign, and Starter Templates Theme - the blocks inherit those themes' CSS custom properties automatically - but the plugin runs anywhere. Blocks fall back to neutral defaults when CSS variables aren't defined.

Are the 32 Gutenberg blocks Block API V2 or V3?
V2. Built on the stable block.json + edit/save pattern. Not the experimental V3 inner-block API. Works in WordPress 6.0+ without compat shims. V2 is the WordPress core team's long-term contract and isn't going anywhere.

Does it conflict with other Elementor widget packs (Essential Addons, Ultimate Addons)?
No. Widgets are namespaced to the 'Starter Templates' Elementor category and use BEM-scoped CSS classes (.wbe-block-{uniqueId}). You can run Wbcom Essential alongside Essential Addons for Elementor, Premium Addons, or Ultimate Addons without selector collisions.

Will activating it slow my site down?
Conditional loading is built in. BuddyPress blocks only load if BuddyPress is active. WooCommerce blocks only load if WooCommerce is active. EDD blocks only load if EDD is active. On a site running just WordPress + the marketing/content blocks, you load ~30% of the plugin code.

Can I use just the Gutenberg blocks without Elementor?
Yes. The plugin doesn't require Elementor. If Elementor isn't installed, the 43 Elementor widgets simply don't register - no errors, no overhead. You get the 32 V2 Gutenberg blocks as a standalone block library.

Wbcom Essential exists to make Wbcom themes (BuddyX, Reign) feel complete out of the box. If you've licensed a Wbcom theme, paying for the blocks that complete it would be paying twice. If you haven't, the plugin is our standing invitation to try the ecosystem. There's no upsell behind the plugin - the upsell is the theme.
