Copy the link, or push it straight to Facebook, X or LinkedIn. A curated list of speakers or mentors is worth something outside the community too.
Private lists have no share surface.

What does BuddyLists actually add?
A Lists tab on the member profile. A member creates a named list, gives it a description and a cover image, marks it public or private, and adds other members to it. Public lists get their own URL that other people can open, follow and share.

Is this the same as BuddyPress friends or groups?
No. Friends is one flat connection list and groups are shared spaces other people join. A list is private curation: one member sorting other members, with no invitation and no membership request. The people on a list are not told they have been listed unless you leave the notification on.

Can a member stop people seeing their lists?
Yes. Visibility is set per list, so one list can be public and the next private. You choose what a new list defaults to, and you write the message someone sees when they open a private one.

How many lists can a member make?
Whatever you allow. There is a cap on lists per member and a cap on members per list, both shipping at 10, and both editable in the settings. Raise them on a large community, lower them if lists are getting noisy.

Can I limit who gets lists at all?
Two ways, and they work together. Restrict by WordPress role, or restrict by BuddyPress member type. Leave both open and every logged-in member gets the tab.

Can a member message everyone on a list at once?
You open the list, search and select the people you want, and write one message that goes to all of them through BuddyPress Messages. It is a multi-select, not a single button that mails the whole list, and the recipients are checked against real list membership before anything sends. The BuddyPress Messages component needs to be active.

Does a list notify the people on it?
Optionally. There is a notification when a member is added to a list and another when they are removed, and either can be switched off. Both go out as a BuddyPress notification and an email.

Will it match my theme?
Primary, background and border colours are settings, so lists follow the theme rather than painting WordPress admin blue over it. You can also rename the tab and change its URL slug, so it can read as Circles or Rosters instead of Lists.

What does it need to run?
BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform. The plugin shows a notice and stops if neither is active. Messaging needs the BuddyPress Messages component, and notifications need the Notifications component.
