Careers UI/UX Designer

Design the UIs inside our themes, plugins, and product launches.

Full-time role based in our Lucknow office. You design the admin screens our customers see every day and the marketing pages that drive their first impression. Reign theme, BuddyX, the active plugin line, and the next products in the pipeline.

Full-time · Lucknow, India · 0-3 years experience

We are looking for a designer who can hold both halves of the product surface: the admin UI inside the WordPress dashboard, and the marketing pages that sell the product. Most candidates lean strongly toward one or the other; we want a designer who can do both, with a portfolio that proves it.

You will work alongside the engineering team and the product team. Your designs go to senior engineers for build. You review the build against the design before each release.

Responsibilities

What you will do day to day.

Four areas of the work. The split shifts week to week depending on what is launching, but all four are part of the role.

01

Design product UIs and admin screens

Design and iterate on the admin UIs that ship inside our WordPress plugins and themes. Site builder controls, dashboard layouts, settings screens, onboarding flows. Designs go to a senior engineer for build and review.

Plugin and theme admin UI.

02

Design marketing surfaces

Hero compositions, feature blocks, comparison tables, and landing-page treatments for product launches on store.wbcomdesigns.com and product subsites. Translate the design system into specific page concepts.

Marketing pages, hero compositions.

03

Maintain the design system

Keep tokens, components, and patterns up to date in Figma. Add new components as the product line grows. Document the rules of the system so engineers can apply them without ambiguity.

04

Visual QA on shipping work

Review the engineering output against the designs before each release. File specific notes when something has drifted. Drive the gap closed before the release tag.

Visual QA at every release.

Requirements

What we need you to bring.

Four hard requirements. Without these the role will not be a fit. With them, we want to talk.

01

Portfolio with WordPress, SaaS, or admin UI work

A portfolio that shows admin-screen design, plugin or theme UIs, or comparable SaaS admin work. Marketing-page-only portfolios are a partial fit; we need the admin-UI muscle too.

Portfolio link required with application.

02

Figma fluency

Comfortable in Figma: components with variants, tokens, auto-layout, design system maintenance, and prototyping. Adobe XD or Sketch alone is not enough.

Figma is the production tool.

03

Communicate decisions clearly

Designs ship with a written rationale. You can explain why a card uses two columns instead of three, or why a state toggle is a switch instead of a checkbox. Reasoning matters more than aesthetics.

Written rationale for every design.

04

Some HTML and CSS understanding

You do not need to write production CSS, but you should be able to read a stylesheet, understand the box model, and design things that translate cleanly to the codebase. Familiarity with WordPress block editor is a plus.

Can read CSS; understand the constraints.

Nice to have

Things that move you to the top of the stack.

Not required, but if you have any of these, mention them in the cover letter.

01

Prior WordPress admin design

You have designed inside the WordPress admin before. You understand wp-admin design conventions, where to push them, and where to stay inside them.

WP admin experience.

02

Block editor pattern design

Comfortable designing Gutenberg block patterns, block-based theme templates, and FSE flows. The block editor is increasingly where product design ships.

Block editor / FSE design.

03

Brand work

You have shaped a brand system (logo, palette, typography) and applied it across surfaces. Useful for product launches that need their own identity inside the parent brand.

Brand-system experience.
