Careers Content Writer

Write for product launches, docs, and the blog.

Full-time role based in our Lucknow office. You write the launch posts when we ship, the documentation customers depend on, the blog articles that rank, and the marketing rewrites that lift conversion. Direct voice, research-driven, native-quality English.

Full-time · Lucknow, India · 0-2 years experience

We ship two to four product releases per month across the catalog, plus a blog cadence and a documentation footprint that covers 100+ products. Content production keeps up with the engineering rhythm, and that is what this role is for.

You work with the product team and the engineering team. Briefs come from us; drafts come from you. The byline is yours; the editing is collaborative.

Responsibilities

What you will do day to day.

Four areas of the work. The mix shifts week to week depending on what is launching, but all four are part of the role.

01

Product launch copy

Write the launch posts, store product pages, and outbound emails when we ship a new plugin or a new theme version. Two to four launches per month across the catalog. Brief is provided; final copy is yours.

Product launch posts, store pages.

02

Blog and resource articles

Write the long-form blog posts on wbcomdesigns.com/blog that document how to use our products, explain the WordPress / BuddyPress ecosystem, and rank for relevant search terms. Editorial calendar runs three to four weeks ahead.

Blog posts, ranked for search.

03

Product documentation

Update the docs sites for each plugin and theme. Document new features as they ship, fix outdated screenshots, refine setup walkthroughs based on support-ticket feedback. Documentation is a product, not a side effect.

Plugin and theme docs.

04

Marketing page rewrites

Audit and rewrite older marketing pages for clarity, keyword targeting, and conversion. Work with the design team when a page needs new structure. The site has 200+ pages; many are due for a copy refresh.

Marketing page rewrites.

Requirements

What we need you to bring.

Four hard requirements. Send writing samples that demonstrate them with your application.

01

English writing with research muscle

You can take a technical topic you do not yet understand, research it well enough to explain it, and write a draft that a beginner can follow without being condescending. Native-quality English in your output.

Research-and-explain at native English level.

02

Familiar with WordPress

You have used WordPress as an admin, even if you have not built plugins yourself. Comfortable with the dashboard, posts vs pages, plugins vs themes, the block editor. Familiarity with BuddyPress is a plus.

WordPress admin proficiency.

03

Care about clarity over flourish

You write to be understood, not to perform. Short sentences. Specific verbs. No "seamless solutions" or "robust integrations". Our voice is direct; your samples should match.

Direct, jargon-light voice.

04

Comfortable with edits and revisions

Your first draft is the start, not the end. You handle feedback well, integrate edits without ego, and learn the house style quickly. Editor and writer collaborate; the byline is yours.

Drafts iterate, ego stays out.

Nice to have

Things that move you to the top of the stack.

Not required, but if you have any of these, mention them in the cover letter.

01

SEO + GA4 familiarity

You have written for search before, can read a Google Search Console report, and understand what a target keyword cluster looks like in practice. Useful for the marketing-page rewrite work.

SEO + GSC + GA4 read-fluent.

02

Markdown and Git

You can write in Markdown and use Git for content workflows. Some of our content lives in repos before it lands in WordPress, so a writer who can commit edits is a plus.

Markdown + Git for content.

03

WordPress community involvement

You have contributed to a WordPress meetup, WordCamp, or community blog. Useful context for the BuddyPress and ecosystem coverage we do.

WP community contributor.
