How to Get People to Read Your Company Blog

How to Get People to Read Your Company Blog

We’ve all been there. Tasked with writing an article for the company blog, we have researched a subject that will help grow the business and attract readership and then written what we think is a compelling blog piece. Uploading to the blog section of the company site is a simple task, so then we sit back ad wait for the reads number to increase and the comments – and hopefully new business – to roll in. But, more often than not, company blog writers are disappointed with the reaction, or lack of it, when attempting to reach a wider audience. Some professions are not as exciting as others, we get that. It is sometimes difficult to make plumbing, for example, interesting.

We might not be writing about the latest sports markets at BetNow, but there is still a way to get eyes on your musings.

1. Write Compelling Posts

As we have mentioned, with some industry constraints, this is easier said than done. But there are ways to consistently write compelling content without straying too far away from your core business and message. One way to do this is to invest in researching SEO connected to your work.

It is also a good idea to make a content calendar to plan ahead of time what you will be putting out. That way you can tie in articles and blogs with events and attract attention that way. This will also help with consistency and ensure that there is a common voice running through all your output and content.

2. Think Outside of the Box- Read Your Company Blog

When it comes to what your blogs are about, you will be restricted a little by what type of business you are in. But it does not necessarily mean that everything needs to be related entirely to your industry field. You need to be thinking about your target audience – and what they might want to see.

You could even produce playlists – and related blogs – if you think you will be able to tie them to your business in some way. There is the potential to introduce a personal side to your company and subjects like music, television, and other cultural elements can do that. Figure out how to link your blog subjects to your business and be creative.

3. Promote Your Content- Read Your Company Blog

Promote Your Content

This is one factor that we talked about right at the beginning of this post. You could have the most amazing blog piece ready to go, but if no one knows about it, you will not magically get more reads. You have to think about how to let people know that there is a blog post in the first place – and how to attract even more people.

You can start by publicizing your blog everywhere. Include a link on your email signatures, feature it heavily on the company website, and, most important of all, promote them on all social media platforms. This is where you can attract new people – and potential customers – to all your content outlets.

4. Involve Employees and Customers

At a very basic level, you can ask employees and colleagues to share blog posts to increase readership. But the reality is that many will feel strange about mixing personal and work lives, and the results will not be worth the potential for discontent in your workforce.

If you do want to go down that road you should think about incentivizing the sharing of content. Or, for a more rounded approach to content, maybe ask your employees to get involved with blog writing and content creation in the first place. You may even access an untapped source of creativity.

5. Build Your Mailing List

You should always be looking to expand your mailing list. This is the captive audience that will receive your blog post immediately. You will need to use some of the other tips here to increase the number of potential eyes, but you should be doing your best to ensure that these people read it first.
