This does not mean you need to rave about how good the product is, or how awful the service is. Such a black-or-white approach will only spoil the whole thing and will show you as an emotionally unstable individual. But you will have to take a side and have an opinion about stuff. And when you take sides, mind the angle you need to take.

If you write for your own website or business, don’t be afraid to take sides. You cannot write content that will fit everyone’s opinion and will make everybody happy. But mind what you write and from what angle. Be honest and don’t try to please everyone.

Check What People Have to Say

Sometimes we just don’t know what we don’t know. If you are not sure about your content completely, go and check what other people have to say about the subject of your text.

Just Google it and read a couple of posts, go to social media and look for comments, or check a couple of YouTube videos.

Checking what other people have to say will help you:

  • Learn more about the subject.
  • Learn what real people/customers/users say about it;
  • Discover some unusual or unexpected points of view, advantages, and disadvantages;
  • Form your own opinion about the subject.
  • Avoid repeating generic thoughts you thought were original and new;

Make Content Consumable

Remember that most people don’t like to read. Few people want to read; most people just want information, and they want it quickly. And the last thing people want to do is scroll through page after page of websites, trying to find the information they need in a wall of text.

Make your text consumable. Make it easy to read. Make short paragraphs and shorter sentences. Get to the point. Underline what is important. Make the content stand out.
