The BuddyPress Activity Social Share Plugin is here to extend the feature of adding several social share options to your BuddyPress activity items. This simple plugin will allow users to share Activity “Post Updates” to social sites. This plugin adds the option ‘Share’ to BuddyPress Activity in the post updates section parallel to the ‘Comment’, ‘Favorite’, and ‘Delete’ option. When the user clicks on the ‘Share’ button, there will be a toggle display with all enabled services and eventually, a popup will appear when the user clicks on a specific social media service.
Installation of the BuddyPress Activity Social Share Plugin:
- Download the zip file and extract it.
- Upload bp-share directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
- Activate the plugin through the \’ Plugins\’ menu.
- Alternatively, you can use the WordPress Plugin installer from Dashboard->Plugins->Add New to add this plugin.
After installing and activating the BuddyPress Activity Social Share plugin, go to Dashboard>>Settings>>BuddyPress Share. Here, the users will be able to configure and select the chosen social share icons that you want to have exhibited. Alternatively, BuddyPress users can also choose to opt for a pop-up window mode to have these options.
Once you complete the plugin configuration, a new “Share” button will start to display in the feed of the users’ sites activities. Whenever, the users will click the button, all the listed social share icons will be shown. There, they can choose the network they would like their activities to be shared to by clicking on the pop-up window.
